Literature as an expression of parsonality
Literature as an expression of parsonality
Hudson deals with literature as an expression of parsonality. He starts with the much-discussed definition of literature by
Matthew Arnold,
" Literature is the criticism of life "
It means literature is an express of author's life in his own words and own way, and gives over view of his work.
According to a French epigram
" Art is life seen through a temperament "
It means that literary art is an expression of the life through the temperament of the writer and literature mirrors this temperament.
In the second part Hudson says that
" A GREAT BOOK IS BORN OF BRAND HEART OF ITS AUTHOR ; HE HAS PUT HIMSELF IN HIS PAGES; THEY PARTAKE OF HIS LIFE AND ARE INSTINCT WITH HIS INDIVIDUALITY.
Hudson suggests us to establish a personal contact with the author as
" Personal experience is the basis of all real literature"
Literature serves as a profound expression of personality, reflecting the thoughts, emotions, and experiences of the writer. Through their choice of themes, characters, and style, authors reveal their inner world, offering readers a glimpse into their unique perspectives and values. This connection between literature and personality allows for a deep, personal engagement with texts, where readers can resonate with the emotions or insights of the author, creating a bridge between individual experiences and universal truths.
Milton says,
" A good book is the precious treasured up on the purpose of a beyond life "
Thus the study of literature is actually a study of writer's personality. hence one can say that literature is in fact an expression personality.
